Efficacy evaluation

2.8×

2.8×

stratum corneum moisture vs. untreated control

In a hydration evaluation study, Sodium Hyaluronate significantly increased stratum corneum moisture levels. Compared with untreated skin, the Sodium Hyaluronate group achieved nearly 2.8-fold the moisture level of the control group, demonstrating its exceptional moisture-retention capability and ability to support long-lasting skin hydration.

Applications

Sodium Hyaluronate powder

Solubility

Soluble in water; gentle heating may accelerate hydration and dissolution.

Stability

Relatively stable within the pH range of 5–8 under recommended formulation conditions.

Typical applications

Serums / Essences / Toners / Facial masks / Eye care products / Moisturizing creams

Recommended usage level

0.1%–2.0% depending on grade

Formulation guidelines

  • Recommended Usage Level — HMW 0.1%–0.5%; MMW 0.1%–0.3%; LMW 0.2%–0.5%; Ultra-Low Molecular Weight 0.5%–2.0%.

  • Synergistic Hydration — Recommended to be used in combination with polyols (e.g., glycerin, glycols, betaine) to enhance moisturizing performance.

  • pH & Ionic Compatibility — Avoid direct mixing with strong acids (pH < 4), strong bases (pH > 11), or high-concentration cationic surfactants (such as quaternary ammonium salts) to prevent precipitation or loss of viscosity.

  • Electrolyte Sensitivity — High concentrations of added salts (e.g., NaCl) should be avoided, as electrolytes can cause the molecular chains to coil, leading to a significant decrease in viscosity. Electrolyte levels must be carefully controlled.

  • Temperature Control — Maintain processing temperatures below 60°C to prevent thermal degradation of the molecular chains caused by prolonged heating.

  • Dissolution & Handling — Sodium Hyaluronate is highly hygroscopic. It is recommended to fully hydrate and dissolve it in deionized water before adding other aqueous components. Maintain proper humidity control during handling and filling to protect product quality.

Stability ranges may vary depending on molecular weight grade, concentration, formulation matrix, and processing conditions. Final formulation stability should be confirmed through appropriate stability testing.
